Why do I stream?

Recently I started a Twitch channel where I've streaming different things, like learning or re-learning technologies.

My intention for the channel is to provide some value by recording myself learning and/or programming.

I don't have many views and followers so far. This is probably due to a couple of reasons:

  • I haven't really cultivated an audience

  • I'm really new to streaming

  • I don't promote the channel enough

  • I don't have a fixed schedule

  • And, probably the biggest, I'm not a great entertainer. I do my best, but I still have a lot of road ahead.

But even though most of my streams have only one viewer (maybe two), I've found that streaming helps me focus. Having a potential audience watching me really helps me keep my head on what I'm working on and that's great. And even If there's no audience on one of those streams, I'm still uploading the recordings to my YouTube channel, so the incentive of some future viewers still grounds me.

So if you, like me, struggle with focus… if your attention tends to get out of control the second you sit down to do something useful, you might like trying recording yourself or even live streaming.

If you're interested in watching my streams, you can join me on Twitch. And if you like what you see, you can follow me to get notified whenever I go live.

Thank you for reading and I hope you found this useful.
